In September 2003 as part of the school ethos to involve the community,

Silverdale C of E School entered into an agreement with The Adult College Lancaster to create the Silverdale Life Long Learning Centre.

The objectives of the Life Long Learning Centre are:

  1. To maximise the use of accomodation and resources to the benefit of both parties.
  2. To expand the range of local learning opportunities available to parents and members of the wider community.
  3. To facilitate lifelong learning for members of the wider community.
  4. To encourage members of the local community to take an active part in the wider life of the school
  5. To support the development of the school as a community service.

Since September 2003 a wide range of courses including Foreign Languages, Computing, Pottery have been developed. In September 2004 a kiln was installed at the centre. This is currently being used by the centre, but there are plans for its use to be extended to the primary children and the children who attend Bleasdale House School, Silverdale. The centre is always keen to respond to the needs of the community. If you feel that there is a subject we could offer, please do not hesitate to contact us either at the school (tel 01524 701467) or The Adult College (tel 01524 60141).
